TULSA ACQUIRES MARKS FROM AUSTIN
The Tulsa Junior Oilers have acquired defenseman Lucas Marks from the Austin Ice Bats.
TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, announced Wednesday the acquisition of Lucas Marks from the Austin Ice Bats in exchange for future considerations.
Marks, 18, has appeared in six games with the Ice Bats this season and returns to Tulsa as he previously played for the Tulsa Jr. Oilers 14U AA for the 2020-21 season.
“I think what Lucas is going to bring is obviously depth and a two-way player that can play a little bit of defense and a little bit of forward,” said head coach Zac Desjardins. “That’s going to help us bring a little bit more competition in the locker room. Just from talking to people and seeing a little bit of him– he’s going to bring a little bit more of a physical aspect. He’s going to be a player that’ll be a little bit harder on bodies, and that’s something that we need– something he’s going to really help us out with throughout the year.”
Prior to beginning his junior career, the 5-foot-8 defenseman spent the past three seasons with the Wichita Junior Thunder high school program, where he played with goaltender David Gifford. In 64 appearances as a forward with Wichita, Marks recorded 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points.
Tulsa returns to home action on Friday, Oct. 25 against the Atlanta Capitals. Puck drop from the WeStreet Ice Center is set for 7 p.m. All games can be streamed on NATV.
