The Tulsa Junior Oilers have signed two forwards and a goaltender for the 2024-25 season
TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, announced Friday the signings of Cooper Smolin, Charlie Scott and Jack Salverson for the 2024-25 season.
Smolin, 20, comes in after taking the last two seasons off. In the 2021-22 season, Smolin logged 11 goals and nine assists in 15 games played with the San Francisco Sabercats highschool program.
“I think Smolin is bringing in a little bit of an older presence being a 20-year-old,” said head coach Zac Desjardins. “I love his speed. He’s got speed where he hits that next gear pretty quick. He’s got some great hands, and he’s got vision.”
Scott, 18, begins his junior career after spending the last season with the Oakland Bears 18U AA and high school programs. In 29 games played with the 18U AA squad, Scott netted 12 goals and 15 assists. In 13 games played with the high school club, Scott netted four goals and six assists.
“He’s got a heck of a shot,” said Desjardins. “He’s a big body. It’s not like he’s going to be physical, but he’s a big body with speed, so that’s going to be very intimidating for players that we play against because usually big guys aren’t that fast and skilled. He’s got all of it, so I think he’s going to be a little bit of a force to reckon with.”
Salverson, 18, will be between the pipes for the Junior Oilers and comes in after playing for Saint Mary’s Prep last season. In 14 games, Salverson had a goals allowed average of 2.35, and a .924 save percentage.
“With Salverson on the team, we have three good goalies right now,” said Desjardins. “He’s a big goalie, he’s very agile. He’s making those first two saves and he’s under control.”
Smolin, Scott and Salverson join officially announced signings Reese Blasdell, Jackson Pick, Sam Cardona, Willy Fischer, Austin Tyler and Ryan Humphries for the 2024-25 season.
Game action begins on Friday, Sept. 20 against the Austin Ice Bats. Puck drop from Ice & Field at The Crossover in Cedar Park, Texas is set for 8 p.m. All games can be streamed on NATV.
