The Tulsa Junior Oilers have signed two goaltenders and a forward for the 2024-25 season
TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, announced Monday the signings of Anderson Weimer, David Gifford and Tanner Conant for the 2024-25 season.
Weimer, 17, begins his junior career after spending last season with Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, Colorado. In eight games, the 5-foot-7 goaltender had a 4.09 GAA and a .903 save percentage.
“He makes not only the first save but that third save, the rebounds and stuff like that,” said head coach Zac Desjardins. “He’s very athletic. For a small guy, he’s out on his crease, and out of the net, so he challenges a lot more, challenges the shooters to shoot, but he’s got that athleticism where if they do put a move on him he can get back to his post.”
Gifford, 18, joins the Jr. Oilers after spending the entirety of his high school career with the Wichita Junior Thunder high school program. Gifford was a part of three consecutive league championships. Throughout 40 games played, the Wichita, Kansas native posted a 1.37 GAA, .936 save percentage and a 35-1-1 record.
“Gifford brings a different style of goaltending, which is awesome for when we play teams,” said Desjardins. “He’s a very athletic goalie who makes the save and he’s always in position for that second or third shot. I think he’s bringing that competition for our goalies and making it hard for me to choose which one’s going to be our number one moving forward.”
Conant, 18, comes in after spending last season with Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado. In 13 games played last season, Conant netted two goals and two assists for four points.
“He’s big, he’s physical, he’s got some good upside to him,” said Desjardins. “He’ll be a great add-on, and somebody we can use in different situations.”
Game action begins on Friday, Sept. 20 against the Austin Ice Bats. Puck drop from Ice & Field at The Crossover in Cedar Park, Texas is set for 8 p.m. All games can be streamed on NATV.
