The Tulsa Junior Oilers have signed two more forwards for their inaugural NA3HL season.
TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, announced Friday the signings of Sam Cardona and Willy Fischer for the 2024-25 season.
Cardona, 19, played 23 games in the Eastern Hockey League Premier last season, tallying one assist with Seahawks Hockey.
“I think Sam brings great confidence with us,” said head coach Zac Desjardins. “I’ve known him for the last couple of years. He brings a lot of heart and character, which are some great building blocks for our team. I think Sam’s going to bring that and with that experience of playing in the EHL, just that little bit of leadership and what we’re going to need for a new team.”
Fischer, 16, comes in from having split time last season with Hudson High and Team Wisconsin 15U AAA. For Hudson High, Fischer appeared in 22 games, tacking on two goals and three assists. In 33 games played with Team Wisconsin, he tacked on four goals and three assists.
“He’s younger, playing against bigger, stronger guys and he wasn’t scared at all,” said Desjardins. “I think that’s something that you need in today’s game. It doesn’t matter your size, it’s your heart and that’s what I like to coach. He’s going to help us out. He’s got a great shot and he’s got a quick release on himself too.”
Cardona and Fischer join officially announced signings Austin Tyler and Ryan Humphries for the 2024-25 season.
Game action begins on Friday, Sept. 20 against the Austin Ice Bats. Puck drop from Ice & Field at The Crossover in Cedar Park, Texas is set for 8 p.m. All games can be streamed on NATV.
