JUNIOR OILERS EARN FIRST WIN IN NA3HL ERA

Cooper Smolin nets two goals and Jack Salverson stops 54-of-55 in 3-1 win over Roadrunners.


COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, defeated the Texas Roadrunners 3-1 on Friday night. 

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening frame, as the Roadrunners out shot Tulsa 18-5. 

Cooper Smolin beat Hunter Houle with a wrister set up by Kolin Krizan 2:37 into the second period, putting the Jr. Oilers up 1-0. Lucas Marks put home a wrister for the first of his junior career at 13:09, making it 2-0. Lucas Dyer would round out the scoring for the middle frame at 19:09 off an assist from Joseph Izzo, making it 2-1. 

Smolin tucked home a backhand shot at 13:24 of the third period to make it 3-1, closing out the game scoring. 

Jack Salverson stopped 54-of-55 shots in the win. 

The Jr. Oilers and Roadrunners square off again tomorrow at 4 p.m. for the second leg of a three-in-three. All games can be streamed on NATV.
