JUNIOR OILERS MUTUALLY PART WAYS WITH DESJARDINS

The Tulsa Junior Oilers and head coach Zac Desjardins have mutually parted ways.

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, announced Wednesday the program has mutually parted ways with Head Coach Zac Desjardins.

“I would like to thank everyone in the Tulsa Junior Oilers and WeStreet family for welcoming me back to Tulsa with open arms,” said Desjardins. “However, at this time, I believe it is in the best interest of the team and fans that I resign as your head coach. The Tulsa Junior Oilers players are some of the best character young men I have met in the hockey world in a long time. I wish my players nothing but the best. I am proud of each and every one of them and look forward to watching all the success they have in the future.”

Prior to the Jr. Oilers, Desjardins served as an assistant coach with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL, head coach of the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL and an assistant with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL for four seasons.

“We would like to thank Zac for helping resurrect the Tulsa Junior Oilers program in the new NA3HL era,” General Manager Tse said. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

An immediate search for a new head coach is underway. Tse will take over as interim head coach. Bobby Long, Director of Hockey Operations, will continue to serve as an Assistant Coach.

The Jr. Oilers are back in action at home on Friday, Jan. 24 against the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Puck drop from the WeStreet Ice Center is set for 7 p.m.
